A LinkedIn user and Chief Executive Officer of PetKrib, Seyi Ojeleye has sent an open letter via LinkedIn to the Comptroller General of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Muhammad Babandede to rescind the query issued to the female officers of the service who participated in the social media #BopDaddy trend. Please read below:
Dear Nigeria Immigration Service,
The attention of #socialmedia enthusiasts have been drawn to a selfless attempt by some members of your agency to promote the organisation through participation in a social media #BopDaddy trend.
We are also aware of the query served these officers who were trying to humanise the agency which has been deemed unfriendly and unapproachable by the members of the public.
Needless to say that such an agency with already dented public perception needs all the PR it can get. These ladies should be deemed truly selfless instead of being vilified as the query suggests.
They’ve done more PR for the organisation than has happened in many years.
Dear Comptroller General, the world is changing, presidents now lead from the screens, chairman of corporations now have meetings in their pyjamas, international TV presenters now broadcast from home with their children disturbing the prime time. Guess what, we are all cool with it, it makes them human.
This trend challenge has been adopted all over the world even as far as the US army and they were never queried.
This is the time to cut some slack and let people be human, uniforms don’t make people zombies. Remove the faceless act and let people be people.
