Omoni Oboli’s The Uprising: Wives on Strike 3 Tops West African Box Office with Record-Breaking Debut

Film director Omoni Oboli’s latest release, The Uprising: Wives on Strike 3, has set new records at the West African box office, earning ₦28.2 million in its opening weekend.

The film now holds the title of the highest-performing film in the region.

In addition to this impressive box office haul, The Uprising: Wives on Strike 3 has also set several other milestones.

It boasts the highest ticket pre-sale for a Nollywood film, the biggest opening weekend for an October Nollywood release, and the highest opening weekend for a Nollywood crime thriller.

Furthermore, the film recorded the highest opening weekend for the Wives on Strike franchise.

Omoni Oboli expressed her gratitude in a heartfelt post, thanking the cast, crew, and audience for their contribution to the film’s success.

Ahead of its release, the film generated ₦10 million in voucher sales within two days, as the production introduced a voucher system to allow viewers to buy tickets before showtime.

Currently showing in cinemas, The Uprising is a satirical Nollywood crime thriller following a female local government leader as she navigates the challenges of her new position and personal life.

The movie features an ensemble cast including Chioma Akpotha, Uche Jombo, Omoni Oboli, Ufuoma McDermott, Hilda Dokubo, Bukunmi Adeaga-Ilori (KieKie), and May Yul-Edochie.
