Roughly four months after NPFL side, Bendel Insurance FC sold Osarenkhoe Imade to United Arab Emirates outfit, United FC, Bayelsa United’s Robert Mizo has joined Libyian side, Al Hilal Benghazi.
Robert Mizo is set to move to Al Hilal on a three-and-a-half-year deal until 2027. Mizo scored 19 league goals in 2023 for Bayelsa United and was going toe to toe with Remo Stars player, Sikiru Alimi for this season’s golden boot having scored 10 goals.
Mizo was the first player to score a hat trick this season, and he did so in Bayelsa United’s opening game of the season in a 5-3 win over Akwa United.
According to Journalist, Mike The Pundit, the prolific striker will play against Shooting Stars S.C this weekend before flying to Libya next week, if all goes to plan on visa issues ahead of medical and other formalities.
The 23-year-old’s goal contributions played a vital role in Bayelsa United avoiding relegation last season.
When quizzed about a possible move abroad, Mizo spoke about timing.
“Actually, there is time for everything, and when my time comes, I will move. What I wanted didn’t come, so I had to stay back and continue what we did last season”
