The recent handover of the reconstructed town hall by the Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas Limited (NLNG) to the Finima Development Committee (FDC) has been described as a sign of efforts at mending the soured relationship between the community and the company.

The Chief and Head of the Buoye Omuso Brown House and Amadabo of Finima, Aseme Alabo Dagogo Lambert Brown, Kongo XVII, came out with this position at the brief handover ceremony of the hall on Thursday, November 24, 2022 to the FDC at Finima in Bonny Local Government Area of Rivers State.

According to a statement by the BOBH Chief and Head, Chairman of the Finima Development Committee (FDC), Sonny Jack Brown, which according to him, “facilitated the delivery of the newly reconstructed town hall by the Nigeria LNG to the FDC”, expressed appreciation to NLNG for “its swift intervention in the restoration of the collapsed building”.

Community Engagement Officer of the Nigeria LNG, accompanied by other officials handed over the renovated building to the Finima Community in line with its avowed community interface and infrastructural interventions policy.

The Amadabo of Finima expressed optimism that “more engagement initiatives are expected from the Management of NLNG, particularly at this time, to appease and bridge the soured relational issues created by interlopers to distant Finima from their tenants”.

“It is informative to state that Finima relationship with NLNG and other IOCs on the Island is not a mere social one, but more of an intimate corporate and statutory relationship.”

Kongo XVII asserted that he is currently engaged with appropriate authorities of the international oil and gas companies (IOCs) to ensure that “all the broken walls are rightly mended, as well as impacted bruises given its deserved healing antidotes”.

He commended NLNG for its resilience in resolving the peculiar challenges encountered in the delivery of this particular renovation project, assuring that the company can count on the full collaboration of the Amadabo-in-Council to ensure prudent utilisation of the asset for the benefit of all in the Community.
