On the occasion of Nigeria’s 65th Independence Anniversary, Woman Leader of Bonny Kingdom and Chairperson of the Bonny Women Forum (BWF), Amaopuorubo Helen Jack-Wilson Pepple, delivered a heartfelt message celebrating the nation’s resilience while urging renewed commitment to unity, peace, and women’s empowerment.
Pepple lauded Nigerians for their perseverance and achievements over the past six and a half decades, stressing that nation-building requires collective effort.

“As we commemorate this significant milestone, let us reflect on our shared journey and the strides we have made as a nation, it is a time to celebrate our diversity, embrace our common purpose, and work towards a prosperous future for all.”
Highlighting the role of women in national development, Pepple noted that the Bonny Women Forum has championed initiatives to support women, vulnerable groups, and cultural preservation.
“The empowerment of women is not just a matter of gender equality; it is essential for the holistic development of our society, through education, mentorship, and community engagement, we can uplift our women and, by extension, our nation.”
She also addressed social challenges, particularly the rising cases of drug abuse and early pregnancies among young women, urging parents and community leaders to guide the youth more deliberately.
“We must be vigilant and intentional in our efforts to safeguard the future of our children,” Pepple stressed. “It is incumbent upon us to provide guidance, support, and opportunities for our youth to thrive.”
Pepple concluded her message with congratulations to all Nigerians, especially the women of Bonny Kingdom, commending their contributions to the country’s growth. She reaffirmed her commitment to advancing the rights and welfare of women and children.
“Together, we can build a Nigeria that reflects our shared values of peace, unity, and progress,” she said.
