Akor Adams scored a two-minute brace in his debut game for Montpellier against Le Havre on Sunday.

Eleven years after Montpellier took a chance on a Nigerian striker; John Utaka, who scored a brace on 20 May 2012 against Auxerre to secure a 2–1 victory and win the Ligue 1 title for Montpellier over PSG for the first time in the club’s history, the French outfit acquired the services of another Nigerian in Akor Adams.

Adams put on a show in front of the home crowd as he scored a brace in his debut. The Nigerian pulled Montpellier back into the game with a strong header in the 58th minute after a fifth-minute goal by Gautier Lloris saw his side trail early on, he found the back of the net with a low, left-footed strike two minutes later to give Montpellier the lead but a goal at the death saw Le Havre hold his side to a draw.

Adams joined the Ligue 1 outfit in August 2023 from Lillestrøm, Norway where he scored 23 goals in 38 appearances getting 15 goals in 15 games before his departure.

The 23-year-old represented Nigeria at the 2019 FIFA U-20 World Cup.
