The Lagos State Government on Sunday has cleared the air concerning speculations on the resumption of the monthly environmental sanitation exercise in the state.

The State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, through his Deputy Press Secretary, Gboyega Akosile, asked Lagosians to ignore any information on the commencement of the exercise.

He said, “Although, Governor Sanwo-Olu signed an Executive Order against indiscriminate and illegal dumping of waste in the State, conversation on the return of the monthly environmental sanitation exercise is still a proposal.

“Lagosians will be notified appropriately when the monthly environmental sanitation exercise is to commence.

The Executive Order signed by the Governor was a move to curb illegal dumping of refuse on the roads by Lagosians during the last administration.

The monthly environmental sanitation exercise which has been an age long practice in the State was stopped by the immediate past Governor of the State, Akinwunmi Ambode.
