LG Chairman moves to improve Sanitary Conditions, Traffic Situation in Bonny

Poised to improve the sanitary condition and traffic situation in Bonny Local Government Area, the Chairman, David Irimagha has set up a taskforce to ensure that the environment is clean, drainages are cleared and the roads are free of abandoned vehicles.

Irimagha said this was in consolidation of his commitment to pursue policies and programmes that will improve the lives of the people of the area, which has been his focus since assuming office.

A statement by his Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Williams Ogbah Agwu, said the Bonny LG boss said the inauguration of the taskforce took place in his office in Bonny.

The taskforce has the Supervisor for Works, Daniel Wilcox, as Chairman, Jossy Banigo, Alternate Chairman, Alali Hart, Secretary, Richard Brown, Dagogo Pepple, Michael Pepple, Oteminasoari Hart, Edmund Wilcox, the Local Government Council Engineer, David Iruanyeanama, representatives of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), and Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC).

Among the terms of reference of the taskforce were to oversee the removal of illegally parked and abandoned vehicles, desilting of blocked drainages, and checkmating the dumping of debris into drainages and other water channels, among others.

He pointed out that the aim of setting up the taskforce was to ensure that the newly outlined procedures in checkmating activities of road users in the LGA with a view to ensuring the safety of lives and properties of both motorists and pedestrians were enforced to the letter.

He reiterated his commitment to ensuring that indigenes and residents of Bonny LGA were safe and secure, charging the committee to view their appointment as a privilege to serve and not for personal aggrandizement, noting that their services, dedication and sacrifice would be rewarded by God, assuring them of his full support to achieve the stated objectives.
