The Chairman of Okrika Local Government Area of Rivers State, Achese Igwe has expressed his concerns over the deplorable lighting situation in the area promising that efforts is being put to ensuring that there is constant electricity.
A statement by the Chairman’s office on Thursday, October 24, 2024 in Okrika, Rivers State, revealed that the LG Chairman was concerned about the epileptic power supply situation in the area.
“My dear people of Okrika, regarding the issue of electricity shortages. I acknowledge your frustration and apologize for the inconvenience, I’m assuring you that we are taking steps to address the problem.”
“By demonstrating transparency and accountability, we are inviting the Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company (PHED) officials to provide explanations about the situation since we have kept our own side of the bargain.”
“My commitment to an open-door policy is reassuring and we are encouraging citizens to reach out and participate in the democratic process.”
The council boss appreciated the resident and promise to deliver to them the dividends of democracy
“I appreciate your concern and is willing to listen and take action when appropriate.”
“We want to emphasize our administration’s focus on delivering the benefits of democracy to the people of Okrika.”
Reacting, Ruth Promise, a resident of Obianime-Ama community appreciated the chairman, saying it’s a welcome development and prays that the issue will settled permanently as light is a necessary phenomenon for human existence.
