Residents of Abalamabie in Bonny Local Government Area are now sharing their sordid experiences over last night’s kidnap of two yet-to-be-identified persons at about 9pm by gun-wielding men of the underworld.

One question that has remained on the minds of the people is how these gunmen gained access into a kingdom that is touted for offensive military presence, picked up their victims and left unnoticed.

Kristina Reports’ team went around town speaking with some residents of Abalamabie who witnessed the kidnap incident last night. They begged to remain anonymous because of the sensitivity of the matter.

Commissioner of Police, Rivers State, Friday Eboka

For his part, a staff of DAH-Palladium Hub where the incident occurred, decried the despicable act, saying he was up and about his regular duties when masked men in their numbers took over the relaxation center, ordering the entire staff and fun seekers to prostrate at gun point.

He said, “What happened last night was really bad. I was in the eatery serving, so I noticed some movements, one of the securities (private guard) came in and said that ‘Boys, Boys, Boys, them mask their face oo,’ that we should go down. So, I started noticing people in the bar going down, they were lying on the floor, so we too had to run and enter the kitchen to hide”.

He added that after the masked men took charge of the compound, they made frantic search as though there was a target for whom they were determined to abduct.

“After sometime as we were hiding, they were still looking for who to carry, so when everything finished, we came out, there were some people that was sitting with my Boss.”

He said the Proprietor of the event center, who was at the scene but apparently went into hiding, later came out, and after a head count, three persons including a brother to the Proprietor were found to have been whisked away, although the latter, who was said to have jumped into the river and swam to safety, later returned unhurt.

“I noticed that my Oga brother was not around and other three men were not around too, but after sometime I noticed that my Oga brother came back”.

Another eyewitness revealed that the kidnappers gained access into the facility effortlessly because of the military fatigue they wore, which gave them out as soldiers.

“The way they dressed, because they look like all this Army men, so I was thinking it’s government men.”

Speaking with a resident of Ulo-Oju Hart Community where the kidnappers made entry into the Island, an elderly man, who asked not to be mentioned, confirmed that, he saw them (kidnappers) when they came into town from the creek but never knew who they were or why they came.

He said “..the water was high; it was this morning I got the information that something happened last night…I only heard when they came, put boat here (pointing at the watershed), climbed up, and made way into Bonny, that’s all I know”

In a similar view, a small business owner along the Abalamabie Road, confirmed seeing the gun wielding hoodlums going out of town with their victims.

“Yes they were carrying guns going and I saw four persons in particular that yesterday night”
