KCC Football Tournament is for unity, youth dev – Bonny LGA Chair

The forthcoming King’s and Chairman’s Cup (KCC), a football tournament between clubs in Bonny Local Government Area will bring unity, social harmony and positively engage the youths of the area.

This disclosure was made by the Bonny LGA Chairman, Engr. David Irimagha in a telephone chat with Kristina Reports.

Irimagha announced that erudite sports commentator, Sammy Wejinya would be providing live commentary for the tournament billed for Saturday, December 8, 2018.

According to him, dignitaries expected at the event include the Amanyanabo and Natural Ruler of Grand Bonny Kingdom, His Majesty, King Edward Asimini William Dappa Pepple III, CON, JP, Perekule XI, the lawmakers representing Degema/Bonny federal constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Randolph Brown, and Bonny Constituency in the Rivers State House of Assembly, Hon. Abinye Pepple, amongst others.

“This is what we used to do back in the days that helped us unite and embrace one another. If you had any misgivings against your brother, when we come together to play football, you forget about it,” he said.

“We want our youths to come together and have one mind. When you go around town, especially, that area close to the palace, you see a lot of youths just idling away. And these are talented youths.”

“We are creating opportunity for them to come and showcase their talents and be discovered. Who knows where their talents can take them to?”

The Supervisor for Youth and Sports, Hamilton Hart listed Igbo Brother FC, Flash Flamingos, Adventurers FC, Ocean Boys FC, Young Strikers FC, Divine FC, Genuine FC, and 146 BN Crocodile
Smile 111 team as participating teams.

According to Hart, members of the Local Organizing Committee (LOC) include Dennis Abbey, Chairman, Awo Stowe, Secretary, and Bornington Orumbie,  Stephen Hogan, Samuel Iwo Brown, as members.
The Bonny LGA boss urged all and sundry to be at Government School field on Saturday, December 8, 2018 by 1pm to witness  riveting and pulsating football, display of skills and have fun.
