Traders at the popular Agaja Market along Finima Road in Bonny Island erupted in wild jubilation earlier today at the groundbreaking ceremony of the remodeling and reconstruction of the market.
The ceremony was performed by the initiator of the project, Abinye Blessing Pepple, alongside some representatives of Finima Community, owners of the market.
Pepple represents Bonny constituency in the Rivers State House of Assembly. He is also Chairman of the House Committee on Power.
A statement by the Senior Special Assistant (SSA) on Media to the lawmaker, Kingsley Tammy Jumbo, and made available to Kristina Reports disclosed that the reconstruction and remodeling of the Finima Agaja Ultra Modern Market was approved by the State Governor, Nyesom Wike as 2018 constituency project for Bonny Local Government Area.
The statement further said the project was nominated by the Pepple for his constituency.
Kristina Reports learnt that Gov Wike has reportedly released the sum of N180 million for the project.
Addressing the traders and other guests at the event in pidgin, Pepple said “During election campaign I come Agaja and promise una sey if I win I go reconstruct the market for una, today we dey lay the foundation to finish am by April 2019.”

A representative of Finima Community, Elder Inima Brown applauded the lawmaker for fulfilling his promise and remembering the community.

He enumerated the benefits of the new market, saying that the project when completed would transform the economic fortunes of the area.
On his part, Leader of Finima Youths Congress, Comrade Charles Brown described the project as “a good project,” saying that “anyone who doesn’t like it is a bad person”.

He urged the traders and those patronizing the market to give their full cooperation to see to the successful completion of the project, while appreciating the parliamentarian for the fulfilment of his promise.

I applaud Hon. Abinye for this project and by the grace of God it will be completed like the Bonny Fire Station”.
