The Bonny Local Government Council says the launch of an educational support fund by the Jack-Wilson Pepple Chieftaincy House of Bonny Kingdom was a commendable gesture as it would boost educational development in Bonny LGA and beyond.
Vice Chairman of Bonny Local Government Area, Anengi Barasua stated this in an interview with Kristina Reports on the sidelines of a Calendar Launch Ceremony organized by the Jack-Wilson Pepple Chieftaincy House on Saturday, January 30, 2021 in Bonny, Rivers State.
According to the organizers, the proceeds from the launching of the calendar would be utilized for the educational development of members of the Jack-Wilson Pepple family and in line with that an Educational Support Fund has been established to that effect.
In her words: “It is a good one. It is a very commendable initiative and this goes a long way to show that you don’t wait for government to do everything. It does show that individuals can also support government to boost education and development in a community.”
“So, it is a very commendable gesture and I applaud the Chief and members of the Jack-Wilson Pepple House.”
Barasua informed that the Chairman of the LGA, David Irimagha was also delighted with the initiative, stressing that it was in line with the policy thrust of the local government, urging other families and entities to emulate the gesture of the Jack-Wilson Pepple House.
“I am also sure that the Chairman of Bonny Local Government is delighted with this. You can hear from my speech that he has supported the fund. Some that are willing to go to school but are lacking the funds to furnish their education can leverage support from this fund to realize their aspirations. A support fund like this can go a long way.”
