INEC cooked up results to declare Wike winner – Accord Party

The Accord Party in Rivers State has accused the Independent National Electoral Commission of fabricating results to declare the Rivers State Governor and candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Nyesom Wike as winner of the March 9, 2019 governorship election in the State.

The party, in a statement by its State Chairman, Nnanna Onyekwere said it rejects the outcome of the polls, calling on the electoral umpire to cancel the election and also disqualify Wike and his African Action Congress (AAC) counterpart, Biokpomabo Awara.

The statement noted that INEC contradicted itself by announcing that it had collated and announced results from seven LGAs only to turn around and claim it had in its possession 17 LGAs’ results.

In another contradiction, the electoral umpire claimed it suspended the election due to widespread violence but could not explain how it got results from 17 LGAs.

Then it claimed it had 17 LGAs results ready and six LGAs yet to be collated but turned around to announce 19 LGAs, ostensibly to prevent an inconclusive electoral process.

Furthermore, the Accord Party accused INEC of being economical with the truth about the custody of the already collated results, saying it was to create a hazy situation to make it conducive for the results to be doctored in favour of Wike.

“The Rivers State chapter of Accord therefore rejects in its entirety the Rivers State governorship result announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC on April 3, 2019 and also rejects the national and state assembly results as announced,” the party stated.
