The lawmaker representing Degema/Bonny federal constituency in the House of Representatives, Randolph Brown says develop ing human capacity remains his focus as long as leadership was concerned.
The lawmaker said his recent empowerment programme, which saw graduands going home with starter packs after a successful capacity building training, exemplifies this position.
As part of this, the respected parliamentarian sponsored a skill acquisition programme as constituency project to assist his constituents achieve economic sustainability.
The programme, which was organized in conjunction with Udis Vocational Institute, Oyigbo, Rivers State, covered Catering and Hospitality Management, Fashion Designing, Driving, Bead/Bag making, Cosmetology, Event Planning and Decoration, and Entrepreneurship.
According to the lawmaker’s constituency office, there were a total of 152 beneficiaries drawn from Degema and Bonny LGAs that participated in the programme.
The educational support aspect of the programme saw 30 final year students of various tertiary institutions drawn from the wards in the constituency received the sum of N50,000 each.
Still in that vein, 11 schools in Degema and 10 schools in Bonny received a total of 6,500 customised 80 leaves exercise books; 2000 primary school textbooks and 3000 textbooks for secondary schools covering all subjects.
Randolph Brown congratulated the graduands on their successful graduation, while thanking the major trainers – Udis Vocational Institute, Oyigbo for delivering the programme within agreed timelines and course content.
