The Jumbo Major House Restoration Group has raised alarm over the attempt to usurp the powers of the Amanyanabo and Natural Ruler of Bonny Kingdom and the Chairman of Bonny Local Government Area in approving the recommendation of employment representatives to the Bonny Integrated Recruitment Centre (BIRC).

In a statement on Monday, February 24, 2025 signed by its Chairman, Samuel Jumbo, and made exclusively available to Kristina Reports in Bonny, Rivers State, the group stated that only the King and the Bonny LGA Chairman can approve recommendations to the BIRC.

The alerted the security agencies in Bonny LGA of the activities of a group it described as “faceless impostors and land grabbing usurpers”, which it identified as Jumbo Major House Stakeholders of Grand Bonny, disclosing that the group purportedly wrote to the BIRC recommending certain persons as employment representatives.

“This is utterly strange to Bonny Kingdom and an affront on the authority of His Majesty, the Natural Ruler and Amanyanabo-in-Council, and that of the Executive Chairman of Bonny LGA.”

“How can they write to the Bonny Integrated Recruitment Centre recommending certain persons without authorization from the King and the Executive Chairman?”

“For us, we are concerned that it is the time-honoured name of our great house, the Jumbo Major House that is being dragged in the mud.”

“We hereby inform the general public that the Employment Committee members as recommended by the Jumbo House Reconciliation Group and approved by His Majesty, the King are Mr. Nengi Emmanuel Jumbo; Chairman, Mr. Kalada Kiriwari Jumbo; Secretary, and Madam Juliet Jumbo; member. His Majesty has not withdrawn them or appointed new persons.”

Some members of the Jumbo Major House Restoration Group shortly after a meeting at Ayambo COmmunity, Bonny LGA recently.

“We call on the Nigeria Police Force, the State Security Service, Army, and Navy, among others to pay close attention to these set of individuals and their nefarious activities, and not allow them to cause needless chaos and unrest in our peaceful Bonny Kingdom.”

The group further warned that the management of BIRC should be wary of the said group to avoid being dragged into issues that would smear the reputation of the Amanyanabo and the Traditional Institution.

The Jumbo Major House Restoration Group reminded the Jumbo Major House Stakeholders that it is the prerogative of the Amanyanabo and LGA Chairman to approve recommendations to the BIRC.

They called on every Bonny indigene to be vigilant and watch out for “faceless” groups such as this that are bent on causing confusion in the LGA, urging them to remain law abiding and report suspicious activities to the relevant security agencies.

Efforts by Kristina Reports to have the reaction of the King Perekule Palace, Bonny Integrated Recruitment Centre, Jumbo Major House Stakeholders of Grand Bonny, among others were yet unsuccessful as at the time of this report.
