Protesters in Abuja have remained undeterred in their quest for good governance as they took to the streets on Friday, August 2 despite the opposition they faced on the first day of the protest.

The protesters ordered by the court on the first day of the protest to restrict their demonstration to the Moshood Abiola Stadium paid no heed to the order as they converged at Berger roundabout on Friday, August 2, 2024.

In an interview with Kristina Reports, the protesters stated that they were disappointed in how the government is currently treating the protests and the protesters. They called out to the leaders of the country to respond to the needs of the citizens and do something about the hardship being faced by the citizens.

Victor, a 40-year-old bolt driver passionately explained to Kristina reports that the current administration has not favoured him and his family.

‘I have had to start driving bolt in addition to my 9-5 job. I had to withdraw my daughter from her last school because paying fees had become very difficult, my wife too had to start selling thrift in addition to her 9-5. Even at this, we are still struggling to eat, it is so unfair, let our leaders help us out please.’

However, the calmness at the protest site did not last too long as security operatives arrived at the scene and tried to dispel the protesters by throwing tear gas at the crowd.

Present at the scene of the protest was online activist, Very Dark Man, who could be heard chanting, ‘Hunger Dey o’ and ‘It is our right to protest.’

The protesters eventually had to scamper for safety as the teargas had affected their sights as well as their ability to continue the protest.
