Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele says his agenda for the next five years in office will be to stimulate economic growth and job creation in critical sectors of the economy.
Emefiele said this yesterday after been sworn in for a second tenure by the Secretary and Director of the CBN, Alice Karau.
He said, “We must strengthen our efforts over the coming years to stimulate growth and job creation in critical sectors of the economy which will help to insulate our economy from shocks in the global economy.
“We must also work to build a healthy and stable financial system that contributes to the growth of our economy while preserving the price stability”.
He enjoined all stakeholders and economic players to act positively in strengthening efforts to build a healthy and sustainable economy for the benefit of the country.
He informed that the growth of the economy is still in its fragile state and below the growth rate of the country’s population of 2.7 per cent.
He added that there would be a collaboration of the apex bank with fiscal authorities for a viable economic growth and wealth creation in the country.
Emefiele disclosed to newsmen that he would unfold a new roadmap for the CBN and the economy next week.
He however thanked President Muhammadu Buhari for nominating for nominating him and the Senate on his confirmation for second tenure in office.
