Degema/Bonny 2019: My constituents want me to consolidate on gains of advocacy – Rep

The member representing Degema/Bonny federal constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Randolph Brown says his constituents deserve more in terms of advocacy, constituency interventions and social amenities.

He stated that he was determined to pursue their interests at the highest level of governance in the country in order to improve their lives and livelihoods.

In a chat with Kristina Reports at the weekend in Bonny, Brown said this position has spurred them to clamour for his return to the Green Chamber come 2019.

He has consequently obliged them by declaring his intention to run for office a second time and followed up by purchasing and later submitting his expression of interest and nomination forms ahead of the 2019 polls.

“The consideration that informed my decision to contest for a second term in office is to consolidate on the little gains of our advocacy. My constituents couldn’t get the best out of my advocacy because of court cases,” he explained.

“My constituents are fully behind my decision. Sure, I couldn’t have ventured if I don’t have their mandate”.

Though his tenure in office has been hampered by a flurry of litigations which have dragged on from 2015 to the present, the Finima born lawmaker has made giant strides in terms of delivering infrastructural projects, capacity building trainings for youths and women, and strident advocacy for security and other issues affecting his constituency.

He is credited with several landmark resolutions of the House of Representatives such as the insistence of the National Assembly for the executive to expedite action on the construction of the Bonny/Bodo road, intervention of the security agencies to stem the spate of sea piracy on the Bonny River, among others.

He also made the landmark request to the Federal Government to capture the Bonny/Bodo road project under its road trust fund (RTF) by granting leave to the Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas (NLNG) to fully fund the project and in exchange be granted a tax waiver.

Should he emerge as the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in this weekend’s primary, he might go head-to-head with either of the two aspirants vying for the position on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

A former permanent secretary in the state, Fubara Hart is up against another APC stalwart from Degema, Inye Marshall Harry. The latter is the son of former National Vice Chairman of the All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP) late Marshall Harry.
