In a bid to assure the agelong pact between Bonny and Degema Local Government Areas to rotate the slot to represent the Degema/Bonny federal constituency in the House of Representatives between the two sister LGAs, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Kingsley Fubara Hart has promised to serve only one term if elected into office.

Hart, who emerged the flagbearer of the APC after the party’s primary at Degema, headquarters of the Degema LGA, said this was to ensure that Degema LGA takes its turn to also represent the constituency come 2023.

The seat is currently occupied by Randolph Brown, who hails from Finima in Bonny LGA. He was elected into office in 2015 to succeed Sokonte Davies, from Degema, who served between 2007 and 2015.

Kingsley Fubara Hart, a seasoned technocrat and accomplished civil servant who retired in 2015 as a Permanent Secretary in the Rivers State Government after 35 years of meritorious service, stated this in his acceptance message after his declaration as the flagbearer of the APC.

He expressed appreciation to the leadership of the APC and the delegates who stood by him during the primary and especially his rival and fellow party man, Inye Marshall Harry, who stood down his ambition in acknowledgement of the pact between the two LGAs.

In his words: “it must be sincerely noted that the smooth and rancor-free nature of the exercise was made possible by the withdrawal of Hon. Inye Marshall Harry from the race”.

He praised the Minister of Transport, Rotimi Amaechi, and the leaders of the APC in Bonny and Degema LGAs, George Tolofari and Sokonte Davies, respectively, for demonstrating high level of leadership that has ensured that the good relationship between the sister LGAs was not compromised.

Born August 4, 1959 in Bonny Island, Hart obtained an MBA in Business Administration from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, after graduating with Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from the Rivers State University, Port Harcourt.

A Fellow of the Nigerian Institute of Management (FNIM), and Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (FCNA), and Knight of St. Christopher (KSC) in the Anglican Communion, Hart is married with six children.
