The Fish Kill Committee inaugurated by the Chairman of Bonny Local Government Area, David Irimagha, to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incidence of dead fishes on the shores and waterways around Bonny LGA has pledged to work speedily and holistically to find answers and proffer solutions to the disturbing phenomenon.
Chairman of the Committee, Amairigha Hart, who made this pledge at the inaugural meeting of the committee today in Bonny, said no stone would be left unturned to get to the root of the problem.
In a bid firm up efforts at addressing issues related to the recent incidence of dead fish on the shores and waterways around the Atlantic coastline, the Bonny LGA Chairman inaugurated a fact-finding committee to unravel the mystery behind the development.
Aside Amairigha Hart, who is also the Secretary of the Bonny Environmental Consultants Committee (BECC), the Committee has Airigha Brown, as Secretary, the Supervisor for Health, Bonny Local Government Council, Nixon Tolofari, Blessing Pepple, Claudius Hart, Publisher/Editor-in-Chief of Kristina Reports, Godswill Jumbo, ASP Noel Okusha (Marine Police), Lt. Commander M. Adamu (Nigerian Navy), Nelson Kaizer (Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps), and Capt. Ibinabo Omineokuma (Joint Taskforce, Operation Delta Safe) as members.
Others are the Chidi Ikocha (NLNG), Dr Increase Boma-Orawari (SPDC), Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Williams Ogbah-Agwu,Chief Press Secretary, Jewel Atedoghu, and Press Secretary, Kingsley Jumbo, to the Bonny LGA Chairman, and acting Leader of the Bonny Youth Federation (BYF), Tamuno-Opubo Wilcox-Buruwi. Vice Chairman of the Bonny Chief Council (BCC), Chief Hanniel Pepple will supervise the committee.
Hart stated that though the task ahead was an herculean one, the committee was more than prepared to deliver on the assignment, calling for the cooperation of relevant stakeholders to find a lasting solution to the dead fish issue.
Also speaking, Vice Chairman of the Bonny Chiefs Council (BCC), Chief Hanniel Pepple praised the initiative of the Amanyanabo of Bonny Kingdom, King Edward William Dappa Pepple III, CON, Perekule XI, and the Chairman of Bonny LGA, David Irimagha to find a lasting solution to the dead fish issue, noting that both the traditional and political leadership have shown character in giving direction to the resolution of the issue.
