The installation ceremony of a Chief and Head of the Buoye Omuso Brown Major House of Bonny Kingdom has been described a farce, a nullity and of none effect. The general public, especially members of the Buoye Omuso Brown House and the multinationals operating in Bonny have also been warned to distance themselves from the alleged charade.

A member of the Taa-Furo Awo royal family of the Buoye Omuso Brown Major House of Bonny Kingdom, Evans Clement Buoye Brown, who claims to be the Chief-Elect of the House, stated this on Thursday, January 13, 2022 in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, during a press briefing.

Mr. Brown disclosed that he was selected by the Taa-Furo Awo Royal Family of the Buoye Omuso Brown House to be the Chief and Head of the House in line with the tradition and custom of the House and Bonny Kingdom, asserting that he is of the direct bloodline of Omuso, the founding father of the Buoye Omuso Brown Chieftaincy House.

“My name is Evans Clement Buoye Brown, the Chef-elect of the Buoye Omuso Brown Major House of Grand Bonny Kingdom. I am the rightful person to sit on the stool of the Buoye Omuso Brown Major House and nobody else.”

“I was selected by the Taa-Furo Awo Royal Family of the Buoye Omuso Brown Major House according to the traditions and customs of our people, the Finima people and the Bonny people, in general, the Ibani people to ascend the stool of my forefathers. I am a direct descendant of Omuso, the founding father of the Buoye Omuso Brown Major House. And it remains that way.”

He described the installation of Lambert Dagogo Brown as the Chief and Head of the House and his proclamation as Amadabo of Finima as “a show of shame”, revealing that the Council of Wari-Alapu of the House lacks the powers to make any other person aside him the Chief and Head of the House.     

“I want to also assure you people that what we saw on Wednesday, January 12, 2022 in Finima is a show of shame and we dissociate ourselves from it; those working with me and the entire members of the Brown House dissociate ourselves from what they have done.”

“We are assuring everybody including the multinational community that the right person will be installed as the Chief and Head of the Buoye Omuso Brown House, which is my humble self.”

He called on members of the House to remain calm and law abiding as the process of addressing the issues and ensuring that the right thing is done was ongoing, stressing that attempts to cause disunity in Bonny Kingdom by those trying to separate Finima from Bonny would fail.

“We will follow all traditional means in line with the traditions and customs of our people to ensure that the right thing is done.  

“I want to also ask my followers and the entire Buoye Omuso Brown House to please remain calm and ensure that you don’t take laws into your hands.”

“We are working out issues and by the special grace of God in a very short time the right thing will be done and every one of us that believe in the traditions and customs of our people will rejoice and the glory will be to God Almighty, who will make it possible. So, please remain calm. We will reach you all.”
