2024 is an opportunity for youths to attain greater heights and they must be ready to make the necessary sacrifice to achieve a better life for themselves, Leader of the Bonny Youth Federation (BYF), Anthony Banigo has said.

Banigo said this on Sunday, January 7, 2024 in a statement he personally signed and made available to Kristina Reports in Bonny, Rivers State.

Expressing his appreciation to God for a successful 2023 and for another opportunity in the new year to do greater things, take on new challenges and be better as a people, the Youth Leader encouraged youths to make the best of the new year by taking advantage of every opportunity that they come across.

“The jubilation which followed the welcoming of a brand new year has drawn us to offer great thanksgiving to Almighty God for his mercies in keeping us all throughout the last year.”

“Beyond the call for thanksgiving which our being present in this new year offers us. We have also been given a new opportunity to take on new challenges, overcome and attain greater heights as a people.”

He assured the youths of the resolve of the leaders of Bonny Kingdom to provide adequate opportunities for youths to properly harness their talents and abilities to ensure their success and the development of Bonny Kingdom in the year 2024.

He stated that his administration hopes to achieve this by following up on all promises made during their campaign, including aligning with the plans and vision of the Amanyanabo and Natural Ruler of Bonny Kingdom, His Majesty, King Edward Asimini William Dappa Pepple III, Perekule XI, CON, DSSRS, JP, for a new Bonny.

The Youth Leader also assured the youths of his “support for the Chairman of Bonny LGA, Dame Anengi Barasua Claude-Wilcox, towards ensuring a very secure, peaceful and rancour free society where everybody can be free to thrive in their business endeavours”.

Banigo explained that his administration will partner with relevant stakeholders, as well as groups and federation units of the Bonny Youth Federation to ensure that the youths of Bonny Kingdom have access to professional and skilled trainings, which can help better their lives.

According to him, his administration is willing to do all it takes to secure meaningful collaborations with important communities and stakeholders within Bonny Kingdom to ensure that the plans for a greater and better Bonny Kingdom is realized.

This partnership, he stated, is aimed at providing the youths a better quality of life as the importance of youths in community development cannot be downplayed seeing that the youths are the backbone of the community.

“We will focus on collaborating with and supporting to the best of our abilities, all relevant stakeholders and committees within the Kingdom towards ensuring that their plans for a greater and better Bonny Kingdom becomes realizable.”

Still on collaboration, the Leader of the Bonny Youth Federation promised to establish a ‘reach-out and network’ strategy, which, he said, will help make impactful friendships with relevant institutions across the Niger Delta and Nigeria at large with the goal of aiding their desire and plan to strategically position Bonny youths for opportunities beyond the borders of our Kingdom.

Banigo noted that in the course of the year, campaigns on different areas of concern, such as the Environment, Culture and Tourism, Ibani Language resuscitation, Drugs and Sexual Exploitation, Education and Economic Development will be rolled out for the purpose of education and sensitization.

He assured the youths of the success of these campaigns despite their seemingly daunting nature as the Central Executive Council is an accountable council. He urged them to partner with the leaders to bring their dreams to actualization by offering constructive criticism where necessary and having faith in their leaders.

“The above may look exhaustingly daunting, however we are certain that with determination, focus and taking our eyes off distractions, there will be no limits to our actualising all our dreams.”

“…this Central Executive Council under my watch is committed to Accountability, Probity and Discipline as such we welcome constructive criticism and have left our doors open for you to reach us anytime all for the good of our dear Kingdom and youths.”
