Chairman of Opobo/Nkoro Local Government Area, Eugene Joshua Jaja says the 2019 Budget of the local government council, when passed into law, would revamp the economy of the area and engender sustainable growth.
Jaja said this on Thursday, May 23, 2019 when he presented the 2019 Appropriation Bill tagged ‘Budget of Consolidation’ before the Opobo/Nkoro Legislative Assembly in Opobo Town.
According to a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Meshach Jaja, the Opobo/Nkoro Chairman was accompanined to the legislative chambers by his Vice, Queen Carolina Ekine, principal appointees of the council, chiefs, women and youths in the area.
The Opobo/Nkoro chief executive stated that the appropriation bill was aimed at consolidating on the socio-economic development of the area.
He summarised the key points of the budget as Human Capital Development, Infrastructural Development, Agricultural Development, and Security.
According to the leadership of the Legislative Assembly, the house will begin debate on the budget proposal in their next seating.
“There is so much to be done in the next few weeks. And I and my team are poised to do our very best,” the Opobo/Nkoro LG boss said.
He noted that the LGA has been running without a budget for about two years due to the caretaker regimes.
