All is not well in United States as President Donald Trump has just been taken away to the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center after undergoing diagnosis.

Trump, who was airlifted minutes ago on Marine One, the presidential helicopter, to Walter Reed Hospital, and had made a video where he stated that he ‘was doing well’, is reported to have developed a “low grade fever” and is currently receiving experimental treatments, according to US news network, MSNBC.

Amidst tensions trailing the announcement in the early hours of Friday, October 2, 2020 by Trump that he and his wife had contracted the coronavirus, US Republican Party Chairperson, Ronna MacDaniels has tested positive for the virus.

This is coming same day her party’s candidate for the 2020 US presidential elections and incumbent president of the United States, Donald Trump and his wife, First Lady Melania Trump shocked the world by announcing they tested positive for the virus as well.

Adding to what will undoubtedly go down as one of the most eventful days in US political history, United States Republican Senator, Mike Lee also announced he has come down with the virus.

However, in what can be termed as a glimmer of hope on the busy Friday news day, Democratic Party candidate for the US presidency, Joe Biden, who only on Tuesday stood some feet away from Trump on a debate stage announced that he and his wife, Dr. Jill Biden had tested negative for the virus.

Biden, while offering his thoughts and prayers to the President and First Lady who are now isolating at the White House, used the message to urge all Americans to always wear a mask and wash their hands often, a constant theme of his campaign.

US Vice President, Mike Pence, who works closely with the President and was with him at Tuesday’s debate, also announced that he and his wife, Karen Pence had tested negative.

Following Mr. Biden, other reactions have continued to trail the shock announcement in the early hours of Friday that US President, Donald Trump and his wife had tested positive for the coronavirus.

Other world leaders including United Kingdom Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, Nigerian President, Muhammadu Buhari, and Zimbabwe’s President, Emmerson Mnangagwa, among others have also sent their thoughts and prayers to the President, while wishing him a quick recovery.

US House Speaker, Nancy Pelosi, a fierce adversary of the President, also offered her best wishes to the President and First Lady while using the opportunity to warn Americans to take the virus seriously.

Friday afternoon, the White House announced that President Trump was experiencing “mild symptoms” of the virus, but remains active and will work from his residence at the White House. It was not clear what will happen if the President’s health deteriorates further.

The positive test of Mr. Trump, just under a month to the US presidential election has dropped a cloud of uncertainty over the United States as the fate of the next presidential debate between Mr. Trump and his challenger, Joe Biden, is now in doubt as organisers consider different options.

However, next Tuesday’s vice presidential debate between Vice President Mike Pence and his Democratic opponent, Kamala Harris, is still set to hold as both have tested negative to the virus.

Not since US President Ronald Reagan was shot and wounded on March 30, 1981 by John Hinckley Jr. as he returned to his limousine from a speaking engagement at the Washington Hilton Hotel has the United States faced such presidential uncertainty.

In the case of Reagan, Vice President George H.W. Bush acted in his stead till the President made a full recovery.

Today however, Mr. Trump’s doctors insist he remains in good health and can perform his duties while in quarantine, but as the president commences treatment, the coming days will tell if it remains that way.
