The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced Victor Oko-Jumbo, candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), as winner of the House of Assembly elections in Bonny Local Government Area of Rivers State.
Returning Officer for the House of Assembly Election for Bonny Constituency, Professor Femi Shaka announced this on Sunday, March 19, 2023 in Bonny after the conclusion of collation of results for both the House of Assembly and Governorship polls in the area.
According to him, Oko-Jumbo’s PDP polled 7,677 votes ahead of the All Progressives Congress (AP), which polled 3,245 votes, Labour Party (LP), 1,380, and Social Democratic Party (SDP), 448, amongst others, to win the election.
Speaking shortly after the announcement, Electoral Officer (EO) of Bonny LGA, Leo Okon thanked all stakeholders for their cooperation in ensuring a hitch-free process, assuring that INEC would continue to do its best to improvement the electoral process.
Reacting to the announcement, Victor Oko-Jumbo told Kristina Reports that his victory at the polls was a big win for Bonny Kingdom and a signpost of greater things to come for Bonny Constituency, while congratulating his opponents for a good fight, stressing that their participation was critical to deepening the electoral process.
