Africa’s foremost liquefied natural gas producer, the Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas (NLNG) Limited says in furtherance of its avowed support to improve healthcare delivery in Nigeria, it was fast-tracking efforts towards making its primary host community, Bonny Island, headquarters of Bonny Local Government Area of Rivers State, the first malaria-free zone in Nigeria.

The Nigeria LNG disclosed that it hopes to achieve this through the instrumentality of the Bonny Malaria Eradication Programme, which aims to cut down malaria-related mortality among women and children under five and to make Bonny Island Nigeria’s first malaria-free zone.

Managing Director of the company, Tony Attah disclosed this on Wednesday, November 11, 2020, during the Signing Ceremony of a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with the Rivers State University Teaching Hospital (RSUTH) to conclude the process of donating a N381 million Renal Centre to the hospital.

Represented by Nigeria LNG’s General Manager, External Relations and Sustainable Development, Eyono Fatayi-Williams, the company Chief Executive Officer stated that these multipronged initiatives were in support of public sector efforts at containing the Covid-19 pandemic and generally boost healthcare delivery.

Attah explained that this was evidenced in earlier donations made by the company to the Rivers State Government, Bonny Local Government and residents of Bonny Island of medical supplies and materials worth about N1billion.
