Jul 6, 2023

The secretariat of the Bonny Graduates Forum (BGF) appears to be the battleground for the 2023 elections as all other positions are set to return the candidates vying for them unopposed.

At the close of sale of nomination forms, only two individuals are contesting the position, which current holder is Belgam Irimagha.

Going head to head against each other is Kenneth Dan-Jumbo and James Ezekiel-Hart. Dan-Jumbo is an HSE professional working with the Nigeria LNG while Ezekiel-Hart is a lecturer with the Federal Polytechnic of Oil and Gas, Bonny.

The other positions being contested for are Vice President, Financial Secretary, Treasurer, Director of Socials, Public Relations Officer, and Assistant Secretary.

For these positions, known names such as Christian Tobin, Thayibat Pepple, and Diepiri Ezekiel-Hart are set to be returned unopposed for vice president, financial secretary and director of socials, respectively.

CONTESTING UNOPPOSED? Candidate for BGF President, Jude Idaerefagha Pepple

Information available to Kristina Reports indicate that the tussle between James Carr Ezekiel-Hart and Kenneth Abinye Dan-Jumbo is actually a close call as stakeholders are evenly split on the choice of each of them. This is as close watchers view the tight race between the duo as soothing compensation to the sad situation of sole candidature for president.

Also, the factors propelling favour for each of them is overwhelming as both are astute professionals in their respective fields, assets to Bonny Kingdom, key players in the rebranding and repositioning of Bonny Graduates Forum and also politically adept with visible footprints in the political space.

That the Secretary General position is being keenly contested speak volumes of the critical and strategic role of the BGF secretariat with many asserting that a tried and tested professional, confident and unassuming personality, dispassionate unifier and keen believer in a progressive BGF post polls should occupy the position.

As the jostling continues with each camp pushing for their candidate, it remains to be seen which candidate between the two will emerge the BGF scribe by Sunday, July 9, 2023. From then onward would mean a more impactful or less attractive Bonny Graduates Forum.
