In a statement read out to newsmen at 10, Downing Street, London, Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Theresa May announced she will quit as the country’s Prime Minister on June 7, 2019.
This will automatically set the process for a contest of a new Prime Minister.
Delivering an emotion-laden speech, May deeply regretted not achieving the Brexit plan despite doing her best as Prime Minister.
She added that she will still remain Prime Minister till June 7, saying this will accommodate the period when the United State of America President Donald Trump will be visiting the country early next month.
Reacting to this development, Donald Trump said “I feel badly for Theresa, I like her very much. She’s a good woman. She worked very hard, she’s very strong”.
Among those in contention for Prime Minister are Boris Johnson, UK’s Foreign Secretary, Jeremy Hunt, Rory Stewart, Esther McVey and other members of Parliament.
