Amanyanabo Commissions Bonny Consulate Cinema, Boosts Creative Economy

In a bid to boost the creative and hospitality industry in his domain, the Amanyanabo and Natural Ruler of Grand Bonny Kingdom, His Majesty, King Edward Asimini William Dappa Pepple III, CON, JP, DSSRS, Perekule XI, has commissioned the Bonny Consulate Cinema.

The commissioning ceremony, which held on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, attracting dignitaries from within and outside the Kingdom, served to reinforce the King’s commitment to cultural growth, youth empowerment and economic development.

Among those present were the Chairman of Bonny Local Government Area, Abinye Pepple, his Vice, Ibinyefagha Alabere, Secretary to the Bonny Local Government, Tamunotonye Jumbo, Chairman, Se-Alabo Dagogo Claude-Wilcox, MON, and members of the Bonny Chiefs Council (BCC), among others officials and stakeholders.

A major highlight of the event was the premiere of “The Boy Who Gave”, a movie produced by Nollywood actor, Allison Precious Emmanuel, and Chief Executive Officer of Graftons Entertainment, Tonye Ibiama, at the newly commissioned cinema.

The Monarch commended the lead character in the movie, Allison Precious Emmanuel, for a job well done. “The Boy Who Gave” has already been nominated for three prestigious awards.

The movie, which was sponsored by Graftons Entertainment, was shot in Bonny and features about 90% indigenous content and characters, showcasing local talent, culture and storytelling.

The film premiere was applauded for projecting the Bonny Kingdom positively while promoting indigenous participation in the creative industry.

Following the commissioning, the Bonny Consulate Cinema is expected to enhance local entertainment, promote cultural expression, attract tourism and stimulate economic activities within the Kingdom.

The development further reflects the Monarch’s vision of positioning Bonny Kingdom as a thriving centre for culture, creativity and sustainable economic growth.

In their respective remarks, Chief Executive Officer of Grafton Entertainment, Tonye Ibiama, and Administrative Secretary of the Bonny Consulate Building, Adaobu Bluejack, expressed gratitude to the Amanyanabo for gracing the occasion and lending his support to the cinema project.

The Consulate Cinema will enrich recreational opportunities and help stimulate the local economy.
