There is palpable tension in Obianime-Ama Community in Okrika Local Government Area of Rivers State as a ruptured pipeline was discovered leaking an unidentified petroleum product in broad daylight unchecked.
Sources told Kristina Reports that the pipeline belongs to the Pipeline and Products Marketing Company (PPMC), a subsidiary of Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL).

Eyewitnesses also told Kristina Reports that the leakage occurred around 2:30pm on Sunday, March 23, 2025 at a location inside Obianime-Ama Community opposite PPMC facility in Okrika LGA.
Kristina Reports team which visited the scene of the incident observed how residents of the community made efforts to contain the situation to no avail.
They subsequently resorted to cordoning off the area and preventing vehicles and commercial motorcylces from driving past the area where the incidented pipeline is located pending when the owner would attend to it and carry out repairs.
Sources with the Port Harcourt Refinery hinted Kristina Reports, albeit offline, that the cause of the leakage is suspected to be from the activities of vandals who tampered with one of the pipes overnight.
Speaking at the scene, a resident, who preferred to remain anonymous, however, told Kristina Reports that there could not have been any form of vandalization because the place is a secure area.
“E no fit happen, e no dey possible because people dey wey dey guard the place every night so that kind of thing no fit happen. The pipe don old so na to replace am put new ones.”
Efforts by Kristina Reports to reach the Chairman of the Obianime-Ama Community Development Committee proved abortive as at press time, same as that of the management of PPMC.
