Governor Umo Eno announced this while commissioning the remodeled Christ the King Primary School in Uyo.

According to the governor, a wardrobe allowance will boost the confidence of the teacher before his or her pupils thereby enhancing the teaching and learning process.

“I have directed the commissioner for education to give me the total number of teachers in our public primary schools and I will pay them dress allowance so that they can look good and appear well while teaching our young children”

The elated governor also called on individuals and corporate bodies to assist the government in improving the standard of education in the state.

“We are replicating this model in all local government areas across the state. This is a bold initiative, and at this point, I must emphasize that government cannot do it alone. I hereby call on organizations and corporate entities to immortalize their names by adopting a school and building to our specifications or exceeding them – in our rural communities as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)”

“We have provided one million exercise books and will print more for all our primary school pupils. We are also providing them with free school bags, uniforms, and shoes. Notably, these uniforms are made right here in Akwa Ibom by our local tailors, and the shoes are also produced locally, thereby creating jobs for tens of thousands of our artisans.”

Christ the King Primary School located along Wellington Bassey Way in Uyo is the first school under the remodelling of public primary schools in the state. It comes with accommodation for teachers, well furnished classrooms, and up to date teaching and learning equipment.
Education is one of the five Pillars of ARISE Agenda of Governor Umo Eno in Akwa Ibom state.
