The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Speakers Forum has applauded the acting president, Professor Yemi Osinbajo for sacking the Director General of the Department of State Services (DSS), Lawal Daura.
In a statement signed by Chairman of the Forum and Speaker of the Cross River State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. John Gaul Lebo, the group also frowned at what it described as embarrassing attempt by undemocratic forces in collaboration with security agencies to undermine the country’s democracy.
The group stated that every attempt or antics to desecrate the sanctity of the National Assembly was at variance with the doctrine of separation of powers and inconsistent with the Constitution of Nigeria and would be met with stiff resistance, adding our democracy must thrive.
It, however, congratulated every National Assembly member irrespective of party leaning, members of the press, as well as every Nigerian who stood up against today’s siege at the National Assembly; and eventually conquered the anti-democratic elements whose desperation has become a threat to not only the rule of law but also the corporate existence of Nigeria.
The PDP Speakers Forum also described the planned defection of the Senate Minority Leader, Godswill Akpabio to the All Progressives Congress (APC), as unfortunate and Ill-fated.
