‘One Day, We Will End Up Six Feet’ – Obi Says, Mourns NDC Supporter Killed in Enugu Campaign Attack
NDC presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has condemned the killing of Christopher Nworie during an attack by suspected thugs at the party’s governorship campaign flag-off in Enugu State.
Obi spoke on Thursday at the ongoing burial ceremony of Nworie in Affa, Enugu State, where he expressed grief over the incident and called for an end to political violence ahead of the elections.

The former Anambra State governor said he had to cut short his trip to the United Kingdom and return to Nigeria to attend the burial.
“One day, we will all end up six feet underground. His death is painful. I was supposed to return tomorrow, but because of this burial, I immediately changed my ticket and returned to Nigeria from the UK last night,” Obi said.
He questioned the rationale behind political violence, stressing that elections should be contested on the basis of issues and policies rather than attacks and insults against political opponents.
“We cannot continue like this. Someone died because of an election. Why not campaign based on issues?” he asked.
Obi added that his political campaigns would remain focused on issues affecting the people rather than attacking members of other political parties.
“You cannot see me campaigning by insulting another party. I campaign based on issues that concern the people,” he said.
