Aide Gives Scorecard of Khana LG Achievements, Urges Residents to Use Infrastructure with Maintenance Culture
Special Adviser on News and Propaganda Monitoring to the Chairman of Khana Local Government Area, Lenornubari Teeligi, has given a scorecard of achievements recorded under his principal, Thomas Bariere’s administration.
The Special Adviser highlighted most of the administration’s deliverables in terms of infrastructure and key people-oriented projects while responding to questions on a live media chat with Ogoni Rant’s anchor, Kue Paul, on Monday, October 12, 2026.

Teeligi defended the administration’s records, citing thousands of political appointments, transformer installations, solar streetlights and investments in education and skills acquisition.
He further described those infrastructure and projects as key achievements of the administration and disclosed plans by the Council to build a proposed microfinance bank and an event centre in Bori before the end of the administration of Bariere.
According to him, the paperwork for the bank has already been completed and the proposed site cleared with the groundbreaking ceremony expected in the near future.
Specifically, Teeligi disclosed that the council has made more than 3,000 political appointments with beneficiaries receiving emoluments monthly while community youth presidents, paramount rulers and Community Development Committee (CDC) chairmen also get stipends.
In the area of electricity supply, the SA said the administration has procured and installed 24 transformers, each rated at 500 kVA, while solar streetlights have been installed in about 170 communities of the LGA, under its Operation Light Up Khana initiative.
Teeligi identified the extension of electricity infrastructure to additional communities, particularly in Nyokhana, as a priority. He said work was ongoing in Taabaa, the traditional headquarters of Nyokhana, with the administration hoping to provide streetlights before the end of the year.

Moreover, he listed school infrastructure among the administration’s reported interventions, citing administrative blocks, assembly halls, principals’ quarters and staff accommodations in several communities, as well as the rehabilitation of the Bori Crafts Centre to support vocational education.
He subsequently listed market development and public infrastructure among the administration’s achievements, saying most of the facilities have been completed and awaiting commissioning.
Teeligi informed that the Council took over and completed a central market project initiated by a community-based women group, Monagboka Community Builders Initiative, adding that the facility was awaiting commissioning.
Other infrastructure highlighted included the reconstruction of Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, quarters in Bori, and the construction of accommodation for the Khana football team near the local government secretariat.
The Special Adviser said the area of security has also been drastically addressed as he described the situation in Khana as stable, noting that the restrictions on commercial motorcycle operations at night has helped to discourage criminal activities.
He said the citing of a police station at Luawii and personnel posted to the facility were part of efforts aimed at strengthening security infrastructure, noting that officers would comfortably settle in as soon as the ongoilandscaping work was completed.
Teeligi urged residents and community organisations to support the council’s development plans, arguing that cooperation between government and communities would help extend the benefits of infrastructure and skills acquisition programmes.
