Precious Charles Blends Information Technology With Nollywood Storytelling

Nigerian actress, producer and content creator Precious Charles is carving a distinctive path in Nollywood by combining her Information Technology background with filmmaking and digital storytelling.

Charles, who is originally from Ezinihitte Mbaise Local Government Area of Imo State, spent much of her early life in Jos, Plateau State, where she was exposed to different cultures and traditions that later influenced her approach to storytelling.

She said growing up in Jos helped her understand people from different backgrounds and also enabled her to become fluent in Hausa.

“Being surrounded by such diversity gave me the opportunity to learn about different traditions and cultures,” Charles said.

Her journey into entertainment began with skits and short plays before she moved into professional acting, eventually expanding her work to film production and digital content creation.

“I started with skits and short plays, and loved the idea of telling stories that people could watch, relate to, and enjoy,” she said.

Charles said her passion for storytelling eventually inspired her to pursue acting and entertainment, opening the way for her to work both in front of and behind the camera.

Her acting credits include Fix My Heart, Papa’s Princess, Home Coming, Designed for Me, Incredible Hearts, The Price of Us, Campus Love, Broken Journey and My Heaven.

Beyond acting, Charles has taken on production responsibilities, including producer and executive-producer roles on projects such as Campus Love and The Price of Us.

Her career has also expanded into digital content, with her work covering film, skits, music and lifestyle content.

A major part of that expansion is Kasimma TV, through which Charles has developed an online catalogue of Nigerian films and explored digital distribution as another route for reaching audiences.

Films associated with the platform include Campus Love, The Price of Us, My Heaven, Love Me to the End, Home Became You, I Only See You, Stay Alive and Fix My Heart.

Film-tracking data currently lists Campus Love among the stronger-performing titles in the catalogue, with more than four million recorded views, although online view counts can change as audiences continue watching.

Charles’s academic background adds another dimension to her creative career, having graduated from the National Open University of Nigeria in 2025 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Information Technology.

Rather than leaving that training behind, she has incorporated technology into the way she creates, distributes and promotes entertainment content.

“Digital platforms changed everything for people like me,” Charles said.

She explained that digital distribution allows creatives to participate in more stages of filmmaking and reach audiences without depending entirely on traditional distribution channels.

“You can create, produce and reach viewers without waiting only for the old distribution routes,” she said.

The combination of acting, production, content creation and digital distribution has therefore positioned Charles beyond the traditional role of an on-screen performer.

Her professional journey also reflects the growing opportunities available to Nigerian creatives through online platforms, where filmmakers can develop projects, distribute them directly and build audiences around their work.

Charles has said her interest remains rooted in storytelling and in creating projects that audiences can connect with, while her work behind the camera gives her greater involvement in how those stories are developed and delivered.

“I was drawn to creating stories people could watch, relate to and enjoy,” she said.

With a 2025 Information Technology degree, experience in acting and production, and growing involvement in digital filmmaking, Charles is continuing to build a career that connects technology with Nollywood storytelling.
