Tai LG Chairman Commits to Project Delivery at FUET, Makes Unscheduled Presence on Site

In a characteristic gesture aimed at facilitating infrastructural project at the newly established University of Environment and Technology (FUET), Koroma/Saakpenwa, Ogoni, Rivers State, the Chairman of Tai Local Government Area, Mbakpone Okpe, has paid an unannounced visit to the site of an ongoing work.

The Tai LG Chief Executive led a delegation involving key officials of the local government council to the Institution’s project site, alongside the President of the khana, Gokana, Tai, Eleme (KAGOTE) Consultative Forum, Lesi Maol, on Friday, August 14, 2026.

The visit was aimed at inspecting the ongoing construction of the dual carriageway entrance gate at the university as to giving it some authoritative backing required to sensitize both the contractor and workers for its timely completion.

Okpe said the project tour was part of efforts aimed at assessing the progress and quality of infrastructural development within the institution’s facility, adding that similar projects meant to give the university a global facelift were anticipated.

The team further identified other areas where some transformational touches were needed within the university infrastructure, acknowledging, however, that the pace of development so far has been above average.

Also inspected by the delegation during the tour was the state of the work carried out on the entrance corridors, underscoring the Tai LG authority’s commitment to ensuring that development initiatives within its jurisdiction are properly monitored and completed to standard.

Members of the local government council who accompanied the Chairman on the inspection tour were his Chief of Staff, Lesor Friday, Secretary to Local Government, Gote Banks.

Others included Kabine Kariko, Kalabe Kingsmen, Felix Tete, Confidence Kone, as well as some supervisors and Special Advisers.

The visit represents the administration”s undivided commitment to supporting the development of the Federal University of Environment and Technology and facilitating its attainment of a global status.
