Court Fixes September 21 for Hearing on Suit Challenging Tinubu’s 2027 Eligibility

A Federal High Court sitting in Kano has fixed September 21, 2026, for the mention of a suit seeking to disqualify President Bola Tinubu from contesting the 2027 presidential election over allegations of certificate forgery.

The suit, filed by the Centre for Reform and Public Advocacy (CFRPA), is seeking a declaration that President Tinubu is ineligible to participate in the next presidential election.

The plaintiff alleged that the President submitted forged academic credentials purportedly from Chicago State University, as well as a fake National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) discharge certificate, to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) during the 2023 presidential election.

The case, marked FHC/K/CS/312/2026, has President Tinubu, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), and Chicago State University listed as defendants.

Court records indicate that all parties have filed the necessary processes ahead of the scheduled date. The court is expected to commence proceedings on the matter when the case is mentioned on September 21.
