Bonny Monarch Felicitates Bishop Oko-Jaja on 4th Enthronement Anniversary, Donates N10m to Cathedral Project
The Amanyanabo and Natural Ruler of Bonny Kingdom, His Majesty, King Edward Asimini William Dappa Pepple III, CON, DSSRS, JP, Perekule XI has felicitated the Bishop of the Niger Delta Diocese of the Anglican Communion, the Rt. Rev. Dr. Emmanuel Okwuchi Oko-Jaja, on the fourth anniversary of his enthronement.
The revered Monarch also applauded his leadership and donated N10 million towards the St. Stephen’s Cathedral hall project.
In a goodwill message on Friday, July 31, 2026 and signed by the Chief Press Secretary of the King Perekule Royal Palace, Bonny, Adolf Pepple, the King said the Diocese had witnessed remarkable spiritual and developmental progress since Oko-Jaja’s enthronement on July 31, 2022.
The Traditional Ruler commended the Bishop for his commitment to the growth of the church and his faithful stewardship of the Diocese over the past four years.
“The transformation witnessed across the Diocese since your enthronement is a testament to your dedication to God’s work and your commitment to His people,” King Edward I said.
He prayed that God would continue to endow Bishop Oko-Jaja with greater grace, wisdom and divine anointing to shepherd the flock with faithfulness and dedication.
The Amanyanabo also assured the bishop and members of St. Stephen’s Cathedral, Bonny, of his unwavering support, reaffirming the palace’s commitment to the continued advancement of the Anglican Communion in the kingdom.
The thanksgiving service marking the fourth enthronement anniversary was held on Friday, July 31, 2026, at St. Stephen’s Cathedral, Bonny, regarded as the first Anglican cathedral in Nigeria.
The Amanyanabo attended the service and announced a donation of N10 million to support the ongoing cathedral hall project.
The donation was received with applause from members of the congregation, reflecting the enduring relationship between the Bonny Kingdom and the Anglican Church.
