Uche Ogbodo Confirms End of Eight-Year Relationship
Nollywood actress Uche Ogbodo has confirmed the breakdown of her marriage to Bobby Maris after days of speculation sparked by their social media activity, saying she has reached her limit after spending eight years in the relationship.
The actress made the confirmation through a series of Instagram Story posts on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, barely 24 hours after eagle-eyed followers noticed that she and Maris had unfollowed each other on Instagram, fueling rumours that their marriage had hit the rocks.

Ending days of silence, Ogbodo questioned why women are often criticised for walking away from unhappy marriages, insisting that deciding to leave should not be viewed as a taboo simply because she is a woman.
“For person to tire for marriage now nah taboo because nah woman! Must it always be man must taya? My tayad is tayad! I’m tired of the princess wey dey marry me.”
“What is wrong with that?” Ogbodo wrote.
She further suggested that societal expectations often pressure women to remain in marriages regardless of their emotional wellbeing.
“To be happy as a woman in marriage is by connection in this country! I no do again nah sin?” she added.
Reflecting on the years she invested in the relationship, the actress disclosed that she had endured enough and was no longer willing to continue at the expense of her happiness.
“Make nobody push me to the wall because I be rubber.”
“8 years of my life is not enough yet? Maybe I should give it 20 years or maybe 6 feet under before the crown of thorns can fit me well,” she wrote.
Although Ogbodo did not reveal the specific circumstances that led to the separation, her posts appeared to suggest prolonged emotional strain and frustration before arriving at the decision to end the relationship.
The actress also issued a stern warning to bloggers and online publishers, cautioning against the circulation of unverified reports about her personal life.
“All these bloggers be collecting receipts ooo! No dey post fake news.”
“Ask for receipts.”
“Cos I come correct with receipts.”
“I’m not like my predecessors o!” she said.
Signs of trouble first emerged on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, when the couple unfollowed each other on Instagram, prompting widespread speculation among fans.
The rumours intensified after a leaked audio recording surfaced online in which Ogbodo questioned her husband’s explanation about leaving home for work without returning with any earnings.
She also shared posts referencing narcissistic relationships, further fuelling public curiosity about the state of the marriage.
Before Ogbodo’s public confirmation, Maris shared cryptic posts on social media that many followers interpreted as indirect references to the marital crisis.
In one post, he uploaded an image of a burning candle with the single word:
“Delivered.”
In another post, he wrote: “Not every woman’s head is fit to wear the crown of a wife.”
Neither message mentioned Ogbodo by name, and Maris has not released any detailed statement addressing the separation.
The couple formalised their union during a traditional marriage ceremony in January 2023, after several years together. Following the ceremony, Ogbodo announced that she had officially adopted the name Mrs. Bobby Florentus Ugwoegbu.
They share two children, a daughter and a son, while Ogbodo also has an older daughter from a previous relationship.
The actress’s sister also entered the conversation, publicly defending Ogbodo and alleging that Maris contributed little to the family throughout the relationship.
She maintained that Ogbodo’s only “offence” was choosing to leave a marriage she no longer considered fulfilling.
As of Friday, July 10, 2026, neither Ogbodo nor Maris has disclosed plans to commence divorce proceedings, and no court documents relating to the dissolution of the marriage have been made public.
Beyond their social media posts, neither party has provided detailed reasons for the collapse of the relationship.
