PFIPC: Gbajabiamila Will Not Be Sacked – Wike

In apparent mockery of the backlash and public outrage that greeted revelations about the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC), the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has declared that the Chief of Staff to Nigeria’s President, Femi Gbajabiamila, will not be sacked from his position.

Wike made this declaration on Thursday, July 9, 2026, during his monthly media chat in Abuja.

Speaking against the allegations of Gbajabiamila’s involvement in the scandal over a fake agency, the PFIPC, Wike denied any involvement by Gbajabiamila, saying he knows the Chief of Staff very well.

He also ruled out the possibility of Gbajabiamila’s suspension, despite calls from opposition parties for his suspension over links to the PFIPC scandal.

The Minister described calls from the opposition members, including former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, on Gbajabiamila’s suspension as “rubbish”.

According to him, the Chief of Staff is being targeted as a way to embarrass President Tinubu.

“I know the chief of staff very, very well. He did not. People are saying the chief of staff must be sacked. By whom? The opposition? Why not form a government, and then you can sack whoever you want to sack,” Wike said.

Recall that President Tinubu has directed the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) to conduct a thorough investigation into the activities of a “Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council” (PFIPC) and all related matters.

This directive was disclosed in a statement on Tuesday, July 7, 2026 by Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.

The President directed that the investigation be concluded and a comprehensive report submitted to him within 30 days.
