SDP PHALGA Constituency II Gets New State Assembly Hopeful

As buildup to the 2027 general elections continue in top gear, political parties have intensified efforts in preparation as aspirants on various political party platforms emerge candidates of their respective Parties.

The Social Democratic Party (SDP) in Port Harcourt City Local Government Area of Rivers State is not left out as businessman and political aficionado, Matthew Somiari emerged candidate of the party for PHALGA Constituency II.

Somiari was elected to fly the party’s flag in 2027 general elections for the Rivers State House of Assembly by the majority of party members in the recently conducted primary of the SDP held in Abuloma Community in Port Harcourt LGA.

Somiari, a Fellow of the Institute of Business Diplomacy and Financial Management (FBDFM), hailed the outcome of the primaries, extolling party faithful for their unified effort in entrenching a transparent and fair process.

He noted, that as the hopeful for the PHALGA Constituency II seat in the Rivers State House of Assembly, he intends to represent the people with integrity and clear focus if given the opportunity in the forthcoming general elections.

He called on the electoral umpire, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to conduct an “effective electoral process designed to deepen democracy and deliver good governance.”

Leadership of the Party in attendance included the State Chairman, Cotteral Tambodia, and members of the SDP Rivers State Executive Council, as well as the Returning officer for the 2026 PHALGA Constituency II SDP primary, Ugochukwu Hakerem.
