Rivers State Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Sir Amaopusenibo Amairigha Edward Hart, has extended heartfelt felicitations to workers across Rivers State and Nigeria as the world marks Workers’ Day on Thursday, May 1, 2026.
The Commissioner praised the strength, sacrifice, and silent heroism of workers, describing them as the true architects of progress whose daily efforts keep the engine of society running.

He said Workers’ Day is not just a celebration, but a moment to honour the dignity of labour and reflect on the value of hard work in shaping a prosperous and organized society.
“Every structure we see, every community we build, and every plan we bring to life is made possible by the dedication of workers who give their best, often beyond the spotlight,” he said.
Amairigha Hart noted that in the area of physical planning and urban development, workers remain at the forefront of transforming visions into reality, ensuring that cities grow in a structured, safe, and sustainable manner.
He highlighted their critical role in driving the state’s urban renewal agenda, maintaining standards, and creating environments that support economic growth and improved living conditions.
The Commissioner acknowledged the challenges faced by workers, especially in a rapidly evolving world, and commended their resilience, adaptability, and commitment to excellence.
He assured that the Rivers State Government remains committed to policies and initiatives that will enhance workers’ welfare, boost productivity, and create opportunities for growth and innovation.
“Your labour speaks in the skylines of our cities, in the roads we travel, and in the future we are building together.”
“You are the heartbeat of development,” he added.
Hart called on workers to remain united, inspired, and forward-looking, urging them to continue contributing meaningfully to the growth of the state and the nation at large.
He concluded by wishing all workers a memorable and fulfilling Workers’ Day celebration, encouraging them to take pride in their contributions and remain hopeful for a brighter, more rewarding future.
