Otti to Flag Off Uratta, Old Express Roads In Aba

Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, has announced plans to commence the reconstruction of Uratta Road and Old Express Road as part of efforts to complete the ongoing recovery of Aba, the state’s commercial hub.

The governor made the disclosure on Sunday, January 25, during a church service at St. Paul’s Anglican Church, Abayi Ariaria, Aba. He said while significant progress has been made in restoring the city, more work remains to fully address years of infrastructural decay.

“We have been trying to recover Aba and I think that we have recovered Aba.”

” But there is still some work to do. Very soon, we will flag off the reconstruction of Uratta Road and Old Express Road,” Otti said, assuring that the projects would be executed by reputable construction firms.

According to the governor, the completion of the two roads would mark the final phase of Aba’s recovery programme, aimed at boosting economic activities and improving living conditions in the city.

Otti also used the occasion to encourage residents to participate in the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration exercise, expressing concern over low voter turnout in Aba during past elections. He urged residents to register and mobilize others, stressing that civic participation is key to sustaining good governance.

After the service, the governor proceeded to St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Abayi Ariaria, where he directed the Commissioner for Power and Public Utilities to take steps to reconnect the church and surrounding areas to public electricity supply following a long disconnection.

The governor thanked churches across the state for their support and prayers for his administration, while church leaders pledged continued prayers and support.

Alex Otti was accompanied by his wife,Priscilla Otti, lawmakers representing Aba and Osisioma constituencies, top government officials and local government chairpersons.
