Bonny LG Chairman Condemns Finima Violence, Says It’s “Affront to Communal Harmony”
The attack on members of the Tobin Konibo-ye-Awanta Chieftaincy House during their Owu-Ogbo display in Finima Community has been outrightly condemned by the Chairman of Bonny Local Government Area, Abinye Pepple.
A statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Wisdom Chapp-Jumbo on Saturday, September 27, 2025 in Bonny, said the LG Chairman, after visiting the scene of the incident same day, described it as “an affront to communal harmony”.




He consequently invited all parties in the fracas to a meeting on Monday, September 29, 2025 at the Government Lodge, Bonny, Rivers State.
“The attention of the Bonny Local Government Authority has been drawn to an alleged attack on members of the Tobin Chieftaincy House in Finima Community earlier today by unidentified persons.”
“In a swift response to prevent escalation, the Chairman of Bonny Local Government Area, Amasenibo Hon. Abinye Blessing Pepple, DSSRS, visited the scene of the incident alongside security agencies, where he expressed deep concern over the development, describing it as a direct affront to peace and communal harmony.”
“He strongly condemned the act and appealed to all parties to remain calm while lawful steps are taken to address the matter.”
“As part of efforts to ensure a lasting resolution, the Chairman has directed that a meeting be convened on Monday, September 29, 2025, at 7:00 pm at the Government Lodge.”
“The following parties are invited to attend: 5 Representatives from Brown House Asawo, 5 Representatives from Tobin House Asawo, Hon. Godswill Brown, Councilor Ward 5, DPO Police Bonny Division, and DPO Police Finima Division.”
Finima Community, which has from 2021 has been drifting dangerously into anarchy, went up in flames again on Saturday, September 27, 2025 when suspected hoodlums attacked with machetes and bottles members of the Tobin House Owu-Ogbo who were performing their cultural display.
