A pressure group, the Jumbo Major House Stakeholders has debunked claims by the Jumbo Major House Restoration Group that it was involved in illegal land sales and other unwholesome activities.

Chairman of the group, Peter Kaladappa, made this disclaimer in an interview with Kristina Reports on Saturday, March 8, 2025 in Bonny, Rivers State.

He clarified that contrary to insinuations in some quarters, the group is focused on empowering the youths of Jumbo Major House by sourcing for job openings, business opportunities and scholarships.

He said his group recommended and got approval for Mr. Owusibo Owen Jumbo to serve as the employment representative for Jumbo Major House at the Bonny Integrated Recruitment Centre (BIRC). 

“This is all to make sure that our youths get employment chances and can go to work to fend for themselves. We’re still searching for more opportunities to empower them, and God has been helping us.”

He stated unequivocally that his group is not involved in any criminal acts or unlawful activity, debunking insinuations in some quarters that the group was involved in land grabbing, illegal sales of Jumbo Major House lands or job racketeering.

“We’re focused on empowering the youths with jobs, businesses and scholarships. What we do is that if we see any opportunity, we go to His Majesty and if we convince him to approve for us, we get such and bring it to our brothers and sisters.”   

“If we’re involved in anything bad, you can be sure, His Majesty will not attend to us. All those stories are false. Let anybody bring evidence. We respect ourselves and always do the right thing. If you don’t like us say it, not to be spreading false rumours about us.

“How can they say we’re land grabbers? They know they are lying, otherwise et them bring the evidence. I stand on my honour that I don’t dabble into such.

He explained that new appointee, will serve as Chairman of the Jumbo Major House Employment Committee, while Abalagha Jumbo, will serve as Secretary, and Gift Jumbo, Ajemina Jumbo and Ibim Jumbo, as members.

He went memory lane to reveal that the Jumbo Major House Stakeholders has been in existence since 2019, calling on members of the Jumbo Major House, especially, the youths to remain calm and law abiding.

“This is the time to come together and forge unity among ourselves so that we can move forward as a House”.

Also speaking, an official of the JMH Stakeholders, Precious Dandison-Jumbo stated that the JMH Restoration Group does not mean well for the House, accusing them of seeking for attention and cheap popularity while peddling falsehood and baseless claims.

“Normally, I don’t see anything wrong in changing an employment rep, besides someone was there before he was brought and he never complained when that person was removed.”  

“So, what is the interest of the so-called group? Is it that they are all involved in the job racketeering? That’s a question.”

“In my capacity, I have advised the new employment/empowerment committee to be just, and operate in a manner that will give credence to the new committee.

“In order to get things right, I have also asked them to request for the profile and documents of the beneficiaries of the job slots issued by the past committee chairman.”  

“God has given us leadership in this Kingdom and the King remains supreme. We respect the leadership at all levels,” he said, calling on members of the Jumbo Major House, especially, the youths to remain calm and law abiding.
