A coalition of political support groups in Bonny Local Government Area yesterday rallied support for the House of Assembly candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for Bonny Constituency in the Rivers State House of Assembly, Mrs. Dabota Jumbo.
According to them, the APC candidate was deserving of their support and as such they have mobilized their members to volunteer their services to rally support amongst the Bonny electorate to ensure that she was voted for massively in the forthcoming 2019 elections.
Inaugurating the Volunteer Support Force (VSF) in Bonny yesterday, Director General of the APC campaign council in Bonny LGA, Mr. Edward Pepple stated that the APC and President Muhammadu Buhari have responded to the agelong yearnings of the people of Bonny LGA.

He said the Bonny-Bodo Road Project, the Nigeria LNG Train 7, among other projects were what the people of the area have been asking for and these have been addressed by President Buhari under an APC led government at the centre.
Pepple, a former Chairman of Bonny LGA, while inaugurating the VSF, urged them to be focused and committed to the task ahead, noting that the party’s campaign thrust was issues based and as such they should convince the electorate to make informed decisions that will improve the lives of the people.
He stressed that all the party’s candidates were credible individuals who have no shade of controversy around their names and as such could be trusted with positions of authority in the society.
According to him, the APC House of Assembly candidate, Mrs. Dabota Jumbo had a distinguished service record in the banking industry, and “has, through her nongovernmental organization, touched the lives of several people both old and young and would do more when elected into office to represent us”.
Responding, Mrs. Dabota Jumbo thanked the volunteers for their support, saying she was overwhelmed by their sense of patriotism and commitment to the enthronement of good governance and effective representation which remains the core indices of her campaign.
The former banker and philanthropist urged them to “make a statement in the community as a lot of people are waiting to hear the good news; and disabuse minds of the people from misconceptions created by our opponents”.
She debunked insinuations that APC has no candidate, disclosing that the names of President Muhammadu Buhari, Tonye Cole, Asita Asita, Fubara Hart, and herself, APC’s presidential, governorship, senatorial, House of Representatives, and House of Assembly candidates, respectively, were displayed for public view at the Bonny office of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The Founder and Executive Director of the Foundation for Widows and the Less Privileged (FOWALP) appealed for support for her campaign, prayers and canvassing of support for the party’s candidates, urging them to remain focused and committed, engage the electorate strategically, and muster support for the party.
