The Agaja Ultra Modern Market in Finima, Bonny Local Government Area of Rivers State will be ready for use by traders and other business people by May 2019.

The reconstruction and remodeling of the market, which groundbreaking ceremony was done today, was approved by the State Governor, Nyesom Wike as the 2018 constituency project for Bonny LGA upon nomination by the lawmaker representing the area in the State House of Assembly, Abinye Pepple.

In a chat with Kristina Reports at the Ibanise Hall, Bonny, venue of his townhall meeting today, Pepple disclosed that the project as conceptualised and approved by the State Governor would be completed in six months from the date of the groundbreaking ceremony.

The lawmaker equally debunked reports that the approved sum for the project was N180 million. He described such rumours as “the handiwork of his detractors”.

“What was approved by His Excellency, the Governor was N100 million. As you know, I do not receive money from the Governor and the Governor does not give me or any lawmaker money.”

We only nominate projects and sometimes, contractors who are eventually awarded the contracts to execute such projects where and when approved. For such highly intellectual beings to descend to the level of peddling such rumours, it’s most unfortunate“.

Reacting to the low turnout at the town hall meeting, which some observers told Kristina Reports was allegedly an indication of disenchantment by many of his constituents, Pepple, who is also the Chairman, House Committee on Power, explained that majority of the participants were there on representative capacity.

“As you can see, the Yoruba community, Hausa community, Igbo community, leaders of various youth bodies and several other stakeholders are here. They’re here on representative capacity”.

On the issue of various challenges being faced by travelers on the Bonny/Port Harcourt sea route, he stated that concerned stakeholders were working on finding lasting solutions to the issues.

He assured that in no time theses challenges would phased out and normalcy would be restored along the Bonny/Port Harcourt waterways.

Abinye Pepple, who is also the candidate of his party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the 2019 House of Assembly polls for Bonny Constituency, promised adequate and responsible representation given the mandate given him by the people of Bonny LGA.
