He praised the initiative, which saw 1,000 female petty traders in the State empowered, for its role in fostering economic growth by providing vital recapitalization support to women entrepreneurs.

The Governor underscored the importance of the initiative, stressing that it aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s campaign promise to empower women at the grassroots, adding that “the Federal Government’s vision to stimulate economic growth in Abia is commendable”.

He further noted that his administration has similarly prioritized women’s empowerment, earmarking a ₦1 billion interest-free loan for thousands of female entrepreneurs across rural Abia, urging the beneficiaries to utilize the resources wisely, improving their businesses and serving as inspiration to others within their communities.

Speaking, wife of the President, Oluremi Tinubu, who was represented by the wife of the President’s Chief of Staff, Salamatu Gbajabiamila emphasized that the empowerment programme is part of a broader strategy to enhance the economic stability of families nationwide.

She informed that the initiative, which simultaneously rolled out across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, has seen each of the 1,000 pre-selected women in Abia State received a grant of ₦50,000 to bolster their businesses.

“Empowering women is not just a moral imperative but a strategic one,” Senator Tinubu asserted. “When women thrive, their families thrive, and by extension, our communities and nation prosper.”

The First Lady of Abia State, Priscilla Otti, also expressed profound gratitude for the Federal Government’s interventions through the Renewed Hope Initiative.

She highlighted that these efforts are not only transforming women-led businesses but also making a significant impact on various sectors, including education and agriculture.

“This is a day of recognition, empowerment, and hope,” Mrs. Otti declared. “We are proud to award this grant to women-led nano businesses that are shaking our economy and transforming our communities.

“To the women beneficiaries, you are the backbone of our economy, and your success is a victory for all of us.”

The event concluded with a resounding message of solidarity and optimism, as the empowered women were encouraged to pursue their dreams with the assurance that both the state and federal governments stand firmly behind their entrepreneurial endeavors.
