A political interest group, Jonathan Olaka Movement has called for a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the attack on the secretariat of the Action Peoples Party (APP) in Rivers State.
Leader of the group, Fred Onungwe made this call on Tuesday, August 13, 2024 in an exclusive chat with Kristina Reports in Eleme, Rivers State.
He expressed concern over the incident, appealing to Governor Siminalayi Fubara to promote peace and stability in Rivers State even as he emphasized the need to properly utilize local government funds for community empowerment and development.
On the reinstatement of Emeka Bekee as Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State by a Rivers State High Court, the group hailed the judgement describing it as a testament of the power of justice.
The group counseled the Martin Amewhule led 27 defected legislators to rally round their party Chairman and give him the needed support in order to entrench their positions in the APC.
It advised Emeka Bekee to embrace an open door policy to accommodate all members of the party, especially, in their preparations for the forthcoming LGA polls.
Recall that the Martins Amaewhule led legislators had following the political impasse between the former Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, and his successor, Siminalayi Fubara, defected to the APC and were promptly received by erstwhile Chairman of the Party, Tony Okocha.
However, following legal bottlenecks in the myriad of court cases following the defection, they made a U-turn alleging their membership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
